As an osteopathic physician, I practice a comprehensive approach to medicine and believe strongly in the importance of treating the mind, body, and spirit to achieve maximum wellness. The sacred relationship between the physician and patient can be just as important as the medicine or therapy provided. Thus, I provide longer comprehensive appointments and am accessible to patients to ensure that their concerns are heard and they feel understood. Focusing on the whole person, I work with patients to develop individualized treatment plans to address various aspects of their lives including sleep, nutrition and exercise, relationship strategies, coping skills, etc.
I received my undergraduate degree from Albion College and then went to medical school at Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. I completed an Osteopathic Internship, a General Psychiatry Residency, and a Child/Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship through Michigan State University. I am board certified in General Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
While at Michigan State, I received additional specialization in Sports Psychiatry. I have worked with elite athletes of all levels including: high schools and universities, Charlotte Hornets, NASCAR, USA Olympic teams, and SwimMAC Carolina. Currently the only Sports Psychiatrist in the Charlotte area, I provide athletes medication management and therapy.

Treatment Orientation:
Being an osteopathic physican, I was trained to look at the whole person - body, mind and spirit. First and foremost, my job is to make sure that there is nothing medically wrong that could be contributing to the current symptoms. I believe all people can benefit from therapy and so I provide some therapeutic techniques at each appointment and will see some people for medication and therapy or some for therapy alone. Therapeutic approach is multidisciplinary.
